[The word “antichrist” is found in 1 John and 2 John, where it means a false prophet living at the time of the writer. It is also found in the plural, indicating that it is not a single end-time figure, but a label for anyone who is a false prophet.] 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 is an attempt to help the new Christians in Thessalonica to understand that both the Christian living and the Christian dead will participate together in the Kingdom of God that begins with the return of Christ.
