Knowing yourself meansself-awareness which gives one the capacity to learn from his\her mistakes as well as successes.Self-awareness empowers one to unlock his\her future through identifying one’s true self andunderstanding their personality and character. The purpose of this paper is to discuss how astudent can take advantage of university programmed campus activities to improve intellectually,physically, morally, spiritually and emotionally in view of the above statement by John Maxwell.According to [ CITATION Ast93 \l 1033 ], almost any type of student involvement in universitypositively affects student learning and development. The university programmed campusactivities include, student government which is the students’ official voice, athletics whichinclude all the outdoor and indoor activities such as netball, tennis, soccer, javelin etc, academicand professional organizations which typically focus on career area of interest, volunteer andservice related activities which helps improve the local and worldwide communities.Multicultural activities which increase awareness and understanding of various cultures , ethnicand racial background, and the arts which involves plays, musical, dance, marching and jazzbands, orchestra, sing groups pottery, sculpture, mosaic classes, workshops just tomention afew.The most important intellectual benefit, university programmed campus activities enables you tofind your passion. It is an exploratory time for students, in the words of [ CITATION And12 \l1033 ], to “take stock of ones’ talents and passions and begin to sort your life in a way that is trueto yourself and responsible to others.” Student might know what they want to do with their life,but participation in the activities provides the opportunity to explore, check out one’s options andfind the things that they care about most. Some students might find they are good at certainsports due to the participation in these curricula activities thereby self-awareness. Extracurricularactivities provide a setting to become involved and to interact with other student, thus leading toincreased learning and enhance development.
