Objective: The objective of this experiment was to find the functional relationship, power rule, between the period of an oscillating ring and its diameter. Setup: A large stand with a protruding perch, on which the rings were allowed to rest and oscillate, was the main structure. An adjustable photogate to accurately measure the period duration, was placed at the bottom of each oscillating ring. The computer connected to the photogate was used to collect the data, on the oscillation, while the diameter measurments were taken by hand. Brief description of procedure: Ring Diameter Measurements o Using a meter rule for the larger rings and a vernier caliper for the smaller rings we found the inner and outer diameters of the rings. We took two measurements each for both the inner and outer diameters for each ring. We made sure to take these measurements at different positions around the ring to
