DNA Fingerprinting Objectives: In this experiment the objective is to use Gel Electrophoresis to compare DNA of a suspect to DNA found at a crime scene. The knowledge of restriction enzymes and the difference of bp in each band on the gel will be of great help in identifying the criminal in this experiment. Variables: Independent: Time of incubation Calibration of Micropipettes Temperature of the incubation Dependent: Hind III DNA Ladder Samples of suspects Sample of the crime scene ENZ sample size Hypothesis: HO: After the Gel Electrophoresis is completed the Crime scene DNA will match one of the suspects DNA and be used to make a conviction. H1: Even after the Gel Electrophoresis no suspects DNA matches the DNA found at the crime scene. Conclusion: I do not reject the Null hypothesis, due to the fact that suspect #3 is a direct match with the crime scene. Therefore a conviction can be processed based on the DNA evidence showing that suspect #3 was indeed at the crime scene.
