Stephan Guran 11/27/14 Genogram Paper A Genogram is basically a complex family tree that comes to life. It tends to show family member’s interactions with other family members, along with others from the community. They also show how families relate to one another by listing each person’s ailments inside of the symbol that represents them; as well as relationships and friendships with other people (GenoPro, 2013). Some people that use Genograms are individuals who work in career counseling, medicine, and general counseling. For example, doctors can use Genograms to determine patterns of illness, disease and other ailments within any given family (Joy, 2011). Or in some cases, Genograms can be analyzed to see if certain ailments could be averted by altering one’s lifestyle. When it comes to using them in career counseling, Genograms are helpful in pointing out what hobbies and career paths past generations took part in (Joy, 2011). And in my opinion, we had to do this project because some of us students might not have known the
