Quotation Essay The quotation I chose to write about was, “Happiness does not depend on outward things, but on the way we see them.” This was said by Leo Tolstoy. I chose this quote because it reflects on what many people suffer with in the real world every day. Many people believe that items make a person happy, while others enjoy what they have and don’t need anything else. What they have in their life is perfectly fine and make them happy. Others need objects to either place themselves higher above their friends or coworkers, or to make themselves happy after something bad has happened in their life. I agree with this quote because I have met many people who are on both sides of the needing items to be happy or are just happy with the little things. Some evidence that is prevalent in the story is how Pahom always needed more land. He would never be happy with the land he had. He would move his whole family to a new estate just for more acres of land. Once he would arrive there, somebody else would have more land than him which made him want more.
