Variables Independent variable : Aspect of the environment that is  manipulated or changed Must involve at least two conditions Example: Violent show / nonviolent show Dependent variable : Behavior that is measured or observed Example: Aggressive behavior. Hypothesis tested by  observing effect of manipulating independent variable ---------------------------------- Independent variable=what the researcher changes.  In the  video, the weird scientist guys speech was independent  variable. Dependent variable=what ur observing, whats going to change HYPOTHESIS=HAS TO BE TESTABLE

Operational definitions In order for a variable to be testable it must have an  operational definition . This means that it must be MEASURABLE. Operational definitions of the following words: Passion – how many times u spend w/a person; how many  times your heart beats; a survey in which u ask someone
