Notes 1-31-08 Relationship between major powers U.S, Japan and Russia In Asia there are 3 major powers - China - Japan - India Which are established or rising / emerging? From economic perspective U.S is a center of this. Europe and East Asia counts as well. Energy problem is a challenge to all the powers, particularly the Asian powers. China and United States, how to manage the problem - What is the international auto today? What is the existing global system? o Shaped by the major power structure. Power structure linked with our first part 1. Identify the existing system today – what are the characteristics / permanent system of this global system? a) there are six centers of global power – U.S, EU, Russia, China, Japan and India 2. The rise of China, India and Japan rises as a political power a) South East Asia (ASEAN) is trying to follow EU and is trying to form a one group. b) No group of Asian countries can match the strength / powers of the U.S especially end of the cold war. c)
