What is the significance of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to the fire service? The USFA falls under the DHS umbrella. DHS is an important resource that collects data, develops training publications and approves fire service grants. 4. Define regulations, codes, laws, and guides. Regulation : details and procedures that have the force of law issued by an executive government authority. Code : work of law established or adopted by a rule-making authority. Law : a n enforceable rule of conduct that helps protect a society.
