1 Mongol DBQ Essay Before the 13th century, numerous tribes separated the east and west. However, during the 13th century, the Mongols shattered that barrier between Europe and Asia. The first leader of the Mongols was Genghis Khan, who began the expansion of the vast Mongol Empire, which was the largest continuing land empire the world had ever known, stretching from the Danube River to the East China Sea. Based on many documents, the success of the Mongol conquests was possible due to several factors, such as their strategical tactics and weaponry, their military discipline, and their aggression. These documents share the characteristic that strategy and choice of fighting technology contributed to the Mongols’ successful conquests. The Mongols, who were proud of their political history, including the war efforts of Chinggis Khan, recalled the “mock retreat” and ambush that Chinggis and Jebe used to beat the Cathayan army.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
