Tara Kwarta SSC208 Prof. Stelzer Jocks 10/22/16 The Destruction of Luck by the Einsatzgruppen The town of Luck was infiltrated by Germans on June 25 th 1941. The takeover happened so quickly that there were very few Jews that could flee the country before the attacks by the German Army. On the days following the infiltration, Ukrainian Residents staged an attack during which many Jews were killed and wounded. Approximately 2800 people were killed at this point in the war, many of them being Ukrainians. On June 30 th 1941 300 Jewish men were killed, and on July 2 nd another estimated 1160 Jewish Men were shot to death as revenge for the deaths of the Germans and Ukrainians that were killed in the rise against the Germans. From the beginning of the occupation by the Germans in Luck, Jews were prohibited from using sidewalks, and were only allowed to shop in the market between certain hours. Many of the Jews were abused by having their traditional locks of hair and beards ripped
