(1.252-261) In this passage, Achilles is in the middle of his fight with Agamemnon. This fight began when Agamemnon disrespected Apollo’s priest. This then prompted Apollo to send a plague upon Agamemnon’s soldiers. Achilles then goes to Agamemnon to convince him to give Chryses, the priest, his daughter back so that the plague may end. Agamemnon immediately flies into a rage and refuses unless he can have Achilles’ prize instead. Achilles then flies into his own rage and contemplates killing
