ABSTRACT The object of my experiment was to find the percentage of time that cells spend in each stage of mitosis. I also conducted the experiment to find out which stage cells spend the most time in. For the experiment, my supplies were a microscope and a slide with cells on it. I then used the given formula to find the percentage of time cells spend in each stage. I discuss the time that cells spend in each stage and the stage that cells spend the most time in.

INTRODUCTION I conducted my experiment to find the percentage of time that cells spend in each stage of mitosis and the stage that cells spend the most time in. Mitosis is a process that takes place in the nucleus of a diving cell which results in new cells with genetic material that is identical to the genetic material of the original cell. There are four phases of mitosis: prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase. Prophase is the first stage of mitosis and is the phase in which the nucleolus and the nuclear membrane disassemble. The second phase is metaphase, in which tetrads line up randomly and spindle fibers attach to the centromere. In anaphase, the third phase, each homologous chromosomes move to the opposite

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
