Twenty-First Century Heroes Response In the 21 st century, we have a pretty clear cut idea of what makes a superhero heroic. They are normally attractive, selfless, a genuinely good person, and are ultimately fighting for the greater good using some sort of superhuman ability or at least highly enhanced skills. Of course, there are some exceptions to this idea of a hero. For example, Iron Man is definitely not selfless, the Hulk isn’t very attractive, and the Arrow doesn’t have any superpowers. However, we also have a superhero that defies almost all of these tropes. Deadpool is a former Special Forces operative that undergoes some awful experiments that turn him into a physically and mentally damaged mercenary with regenerative abilities. He defies almost all of the modern superhero tropes except his ability to regenerate at an extreme rate and his excellent combat skills. He is not really a good person, is not working towards any greater good, regularly kills people, and has no clear moral compass. His sole purpose in the
