Lisa Elina binti Shahnor (15031818) Lab Report Experiment 7 Title: Tests for Different Types of Food Aim: To identify the three main classes of food, carbohydrates (starch and glucose), fats, and proteins through various tests. Procedure:- A. Test for Starch 1) In a clean test tube containing some starch solution, add in 3 drops of iodine solution. 2) Add 3 drops of iodine solution onto each of the petri dish that contains a piece of each bread, potato, carrot and cucumber. B. Test for Glucose 1) Add 10 drops of Fehling solution and 10 drops of Fehling solution into the test tube and mix it into the test tube containing some glucose solution. Warm the mixture up in a boiling water bath for 5 minutes and note down the reaction. 2) Take 2 test tubes containing a solution of common sugar. Add 4 drops of 1 M HCl to one of the tubes. Place both of the tubes in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes. Afterwards, add Fehling and solutions as described in step 1. D. Test for Oil or Fat 1) Add about 10 drops of Sudan into the test tube containing cooking oil. Shake the test tube
