Summary: - In this highlighted article the author, Daniel Goleman, explains how important Emotional Intelligence (EI) is to leaders than IQ and technical skills. He believes that finding the individuals who possesses the suitable attributes to be leaders is more artistic than scientific. Goleman have put forward the five components of EI: Own- Awareness, Own- regulation, Enthusiasm, Empathy and Social skill in order to show the relationship with efficient performance in leaders. Technical skills, Cognitive abilities and competencies are the three abilities that author have categorized to determine which personal ability is outstanding and to what degree they are useful to the organization. EI can be learned but there need to be a commitment as it is not such an easy task as we thought.
