1)  "Cotton created the antebellum South."   What does this statement from  the conclusion of the textbook chapter mean, how did cotton "create" the  southern society of the 1800s?   The antebellum South can be defined as the period of history (in the south) that  spanned from the late 18 th  century to the beginning of the American Civil war.  The economic landscape of the time period was heavily influenced by the  production of cotton, because it did so well. It lead to the rise of plantation  culture as well because cotton required massive temporary fields, large number  of slaves and laborers, and constant movement so there wasn’t a whole lot of  manual labor on the part of the cotton producers/manufacturers.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
