Running Head: NEW EMPLOYEE UNDERSTANDING AND EMPOWERMENT ASSESSMENT2Background/Data Collection/AnalysisOur team was brought in to assess new employee training to determine its effectivenessat educating and empowering new employees about the organization’s safety culture and theirrole within said safety culture.Their HR Director conveyed the goals and intent of the newemployee training as, comprehend the organization’s zero-mishap safety culture; know howeach individual has a role in their daily practices at work to ensure his/her own safety as well asthat of co-workers and clients; apply organizational values to the safety culture and don’t beafraid to speak up and say, “Knock it off!” when safety is at risk; and know where to find moreinformation on our safety dashboard and how to get help from your supervisor.Based on this framing by the HR Director our team established the following problemstatement:“The problem to be addressed by this assessment is the impact of the organization'straining program on the initial safety culture are unknown.The CMO is unsure if newemployees feel empowered to confront and mitigate unsafe practices in the workplace startingon the first day on the job.”This problem statement assisted in identifying the problem and shaping the followingintent statement for our data collection and analysis:“The purpose of this assessment is to qualitatively evaluate the new training program byusing open-ended interview style questions to gain perspective from new employees attendingtraining.The goal is to gain a rich understanding from the trainees on their feelings about theirrole in the safety culture of the organization.”
