Chris Hertzog BA 242 Chapter 35 Problems 1. The issue in this case is whether Stieger is liable for the unauthorized purchases made by Garrett on her business trip. Stieger authorized Garrett to use the card for a car rental and hotel room. There are 15 other charges on the card that are unaccounted for that Garrett made. With the principal’s duties to reimburse their agent, Stieger is responsible for only the authorized transactions. Since Stieger expressly stated what the card could be used for, Garrett has the duty to uphold those expressly stated terms. Since Garrett didn’t abide by those terms, Stieger is only liable for the authorized purchases. 2. In this case, Karsten contracted with Pro Golf Shop for product, even though Karsten’s employer informed Karsten to contact Perez before forming a contract. Karsten, a sales rep of Ling Company, is in a position that normally would allow him to contract with clients without notification to the company sales VP Perez.
