Josh Huver Mrs. Burns AP English 21 September, 2005 The Science of Selling Yourself Short: An Essay on Peer Pressure I leaned back in my chair and set my head on the window sill. It was just after lunch and I was restless. No, the entire class was restless. I took my gaze off of Mrs. Patterson, our 8 th grade Language Arts teacher and peered out the window. I saw the trees and the houses of the neighborhood. The bright yellow sun shining, but not so brightly that it was hot. The temperature outside couldn’t have been more than 75 degrees. Absolutely perfect. I sighed deeply, wanting nothing more than to be set free of this prison when, without warning, the teacher had announced to the class that we were going outside. Everyone instantly began talking as we stood up and walked out of the room. We mad our way down the hall, past the staircase, and out the Art Room door to reach St. Thomas’ new, yet rather sorry excuse for a garden. I don’t remember what we were supposed to be doing, and I
