(Note: Published scholarly articles retrieved through theinternet are, of course, acceptable, but general information retrieved from websites isnot acceptable for use toward the 6 sources.) List these sources—providing fullbibliographic information—on the attached sheet. I will return the sheets to you thefollowing week.Tuesday, May 17:Research papers are due.There will also be in-class oral presentationsof the research papers on May 10 and May 17. Presentations should be 5 minutes(carefully timed in advance) in length, to be followed by 3 to 5 minutes for questionsfrom the class and the instructor. These presentations are intended to be a summary ofone’s findings, a review of interesting conclusions, and a brief discussion of the sourcesused. Students should notattempt to read their papers verbatim. Later in the term, I willdistribute a sign-up sheet in class for students to choose the date on which they wish topresent. I will provide further instructions for the presentation at that time.Content of the Paper:Students should look over the bibliography provided on the syllabus to begin toformulate ideas for their paper; however, paper topics are not limited to subjectsrepresented in this bibliography. The bibliographies in the assigned readings will behelpful as well. Students should also consult with the instructor over the next severalweeks about their potential topic. Each paper should begin by clearly laying out its topicand the scope (extent) of that topic that the paper will address.
