RUNNING HEAD: ASSIGNMENT 1 – STRATEGIC MANAGEMNT AND STRATEGIC COMPETITIVENESS Strategic management is the constant planning, analyzing and commitment with the company management system to achieve above average returns for the owners. It set goals for the company and plans to achieved these goals with the overall purpose of achieving maximum profit success. Strategic competitiveness is the method an organization applies to ensure its survival in a field full of competitors. In such a field, one ought to come up with working ideas so as to beat competitors and make good profit (Ireland, Hoskisson and Hitt, 2008) One of the most recognizable public corporations in the entire globe is MacDonald’s. All age groups of people including two year olds recognize the MacDonald’s brand as soon as they see their golden arcs. Without a doubt Macdonald have made its mark in history as one of the most successful business models. Macdonald’s success originates back to the mid 1950 in a small town of San Bernardino California, where the MacDonald’s brother, Dick and Mac were running a small restaurant; it was there when Ray Croc, the third and most important character in the MacDonald history would come about. Ray Croc was a businessman who immediately recognized the business potential the Macdonald restaurant posed. The small business ran a very simple but very effective operation. They worked with a small menu, selling only hamburgers, fries and drinks; this allowed them serve quality and deliver great services. Ray Croc knew this was great system and he envisioned expanding this system, but I don’t think he ever imagined it would become a global brand when he founded the Macdonald System Inc. “ Ray Kroc wanted to build a restaurant system that would be famous for providing food of consistently high quality and uniform methods of preparation. He wanted to serve burgers, buns, fries and beverages that tasted just the same in Alaska as they did in Alabama.” ( - us/about-us/our-history.html )

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
