Jennie Tsaralunge There are many laws directed toward the rights one has as an employee, such as Equal Employment Opportunity, Vietnam Era Veterans' Readjustment Assistance Act, and Americans with Disabilities Act, just to name a few. Equal employment opportunity is to protect every single person from being discriminated against. This law ensures that any race, any disabled person, male or female has an equal chance in the hiring process and actually finding a job. This makes it easier for individuals to receive a job based on their knowledge or skills rather than it being based on who they happen to know, their upbringing, or their social status. This also protects homosexual people from being discriminated against in the hiring process. This law was created to ensure that everyone has a fair chance to receive a job, no matter what kind of differences they have. The Department of Labor (DOL) states “A Vietnam Era Veteran is someone who served on active duty for at least 180 days, any part on which occurred between August 5, 1964 and May 7, 1975”. One is also a Vietnam era veteran if the veteran was released or discharged honorably because of an injury due to service during those dates as well. This law
