Unformatted text preview: 3/4/08 Class Notes Hebrews Descended from Abrahams sons and became the 12 tribes. They were first excepted in Egypt then they were hated. Moses later gained them freedom from slave labor which leads to Exodus Sinai (1250-1200 BCE). 1. Feast and Passover which the Hebrews remembered to celebrate their freedom from Egypt. 2. monotheism God revealed himself as Yahweh and gave them law. 3. A covenant was made between Yahweh and his people and Moses. 4. people hood or they realized that they were the chosen. Canaan was conquered by the Hebrews and now the judges would rule. (1200-1025) In a time of need an OUTSTANDING leader or judge to lead them. there was one woman judge name Deborah but she had to rule w/ a man. Israel was in the north and Judea with Jerusalem as the capitol was in the south.
