Keep in mind that your negotiation terms and conditions must be within the legal scope of practice for an ANP.According to Buppert (2011), NP should be able to state clearly what he or she has contributed to the practice in the past year and have data to prove it. In order for this negotiation strategy to be effective providing solid data is necessary. Providing proof of an increase in patients, or an increase in revenue and decrease in spending are two things that can be used as solid data. APN intervention has consistently resulted in improved patient outcomes and reduced health care costs across groups. Groups with APN providers were rehospitalized for less time at less cost, reflecting early detection and intervention (Brooten et. Al., 2002). Making sure I understand how I will be compensated and the benefits are important in negotiations as well.
