BIO 101 Methods The Porcellio scaber were obtained in their storage environment, a plastic tuppperware container containing a moistened napkin and two pieces of food, some carrot and zucchini. There were about 25 Porcellio scaber in the Tupperware. When they were handled, the napkin was opened to lie flat and periodically moved to stimulate the isopods into motion. The first petri container was constructed using two Petri halves into a “dry” environment. First, the bottom Petri half, which measured 286.28 cm in cubic volume, was filled about half-way with Drie-Rite, a desiccant. Next to it, a second Petri half was filled the same amount with Drie-Rite that was dampened by tap water, establishing it as the “wet” environment. Over these two Petri dishes was placed a wire screen, where the isopods walked back and forth. Lined up over the circumferences of both petri dishes were their top halves, which had the same measurements save for a small hole carved into each one. These holes were lined up to create a makeshift tunnel
