Diaz1 Hector Diaz Document: 6-1 In 17030 Mary Jemison was born in Ireland. In 1742 Jemison and her family set sail to the new world, due to the intestine division, civil wars, ecclesiastical rigidity, and domination that prevailed those days. Mary and her family anchored in Philadelphia for a year and later decided to move to Pennsylvania, where her father created a very successful farm of fruits. In 1752 stories of Indian destruction inflicted upon the whites, many murders began to happen; captives were exposed death in the most frightful form. In 1754 an army led by George Washington was sent to protect settlers and drive back the French and Indians. Things got dreadful after the French and Indians surrender at fort Necessity, the death of whites began to increase, plundering and burning of property was their main objective. Gun fire erupted near Jemison’s house; a neighbor and his horse were killed, which then alarmed everyone in the city that the Indians were on the way to attack. During the attack, French soldiers and their Seneca Indian allies captured Mary Jemison and her Family. The party
