To what events does the document refer?  When did the event(s) happen? a. The colony of Virginia and the city of James Town were born when  Captain Smith landed on land on April 26, 1607. 3. Who is/are the main actors? a. Captain John Smith, Emperor Powhatan 4. Who recorded the documents, and why? a. John Smith recorded the documents because he wanted to tell his  friend, in England, about his adventures. 5. Who was the intended audience? a. The intended audience would most likely be John Smith’s friend  back in England, and the townspeople, where his friend lives.  Also,  the rest of England can also be part of the audience. Section II 1
