Frith and Love Analysis Simon Frith’s and Courtney Love’s essays are almost two polar opposites in terms of writing style. After reading these essays, it’s easy to tell that these two authors come from two very different backgrounds. Frith’s essay has a more classy tone while Love’s essay is much more informal. Although these essays are written very differently, they both succeed in getting their message across. In Frith’s essay, he tells the reader that he is a very educated sociologist, studying at Oxford and UC Berkeley. Frith talks about the music industry in a very analytical way, and the purpose of his essay is to explain how the music industry works and its relationship with people. Frith explains his sociological and rock background, thus establishing credibility in his argument relating music with sociology. This is a very effective writing style and is a classic example of how professional writing should be done.
