Lab Number 1: Measurement, Uncertainty and Propagation of Uncertainty Introduction (Purpose of Lab and Hypothesis): Purpose of Lab: The purpose of this lab was to use Vernier caliper and a beam balance to find the measurements such as diameter, height, and mass. Then those measurements were used to find the density of copper. Along with that, I had to find the uncertainty for the values, so the measurements were precise and accurate. Hypothesis : In this lab, my calculated value for the density of copper will be closer to the accepted value. Procedure and Results: Procedure: In this experiment, I was given copper and I had to measure its diameter and height by using vernier caliper ten times. When measuring the height and diameter I had to make sure that I was measuring right by the tenth place. Then I had to measure the mass ten times by different triple beam balance in the lab room. After getting the data, I had to get the average by adding up number for each measurement and then dividing it by ten. To be in the same units, I had to

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
