Must hire massive amounts of employees to build railroads d. Everywhere it goes it generates business e. Allows for rapid transportation of goods f. Inexpensive transportation of goods g. Generates development everywhere it goes.  ii. Other new technologies a. Telegraph spreads out  i. Worked along with railroads ii. Telegraph spread nationally  to help communication b. Telephone c. Refrigerated Railcars  i. Transporting meats ii. Helped meat industry

3. Government Aid i. Government  allowed big business to emerge  ii. Gave DIRECT AID to big business iii. Little towns would do everything they could to get railroad to  come through their town iv. Pacific Railway Bill (passed during the Civil War) allowed 2 rail  companies to build a railroad to connect East and West of the  country v. Gave these Rail companies 45 million acres to do what they  want vi. Gave them companies military troops to protect from Indians vii. Keeps tariffs on imports high viii. Allows domestic product to be sold for less ix. Doesn’t really regulate big business x. Helps big business against Strikes xi. Would send in troops to get rid of strikes xii. Unions began  xiii. Federal government didn’t recognize Unions xiv. Entrepreneurial Liberty- Market will regulate itself and  Government will stay out. B. Changes big business brought 1. Business on a National Scale
