Lauren Zuro October 31, 2016 Chapman, B. Music and Mathematics To me, there are many different aspects of music and mathematics. In real life, people don’t usually think about music having mathematics behind it or even mathematics being associated with any part of it. The readings that were assigned for this topic were very informative on music and how mathematics relates to it. I found the wikipedia article very interesting and informative. I liked the part where it said, “ Elements of music such as its form , rhythm and metre , the pitches of its notes and the tempo of its pulse can be related to the measurement of time and frequency , offering ready analogies in geometry .” This explains that the beat and tempo behind every note in music has something to do with mathematics. Every time a beat or note occurs, it’s counted as one and it goes from there. There are also a certain number of beats in each measure, depending on what the tempo of the song is. There can be multiple notes in each measure but there can also be one
