Running Head: Effective Counselors 2 Effective Counselor In this scenario, George will have to figure out what he needs to overcome in order to be an effective counselor. The character flaws that George has will impact his client, thus impacting his goals as a good counselor. First, George is noted as being narrow-minded and judgmental about the people that are different from him and this can not be, in order to help oth- ers in a capacity of mental situations. Even according to the ACA B.1.a. “  Counselors maintain awareness and sensitivity regarding cultural meanings of confidentiality and privacy. Counselors respect differ- ing views toward disclosure of information . George has to take the time to embrace diversity and will receive people better in order to help and counsel them. It would not be wise for George to keep up this type of outlook or behavior. Being guarded sends the others a signal that you are not welcoming, and not interested in helping or wanting to know them. Also, being very opinion- ated will be an hinderance with counseling. Maybe for him there is some form of hurt in his life,
