Dustin Habecker ENGL112 Concept Essay, Final Draft Professor Boran 11/14/07 Drive with Care You always fill up on gas, drive with care, and renew your license tags when needed. That’s all you need to do to take care of your car, right? Wrong! Those are just a few of the things needed to keep your car running for decades. Yes, it may seem impossible sometimes, but cars CAN last, just about forever. This is why there are still cars from the 50s and 60s driving around. Many people overlook simple things such as cleaning the engine, changing the air filter, and replacing several different hoses and belts when they must be changed. If this sounds like you, then listen very closely to the information I have for you. Day to day, week to week, and month to month, maintenance for your car will save you a lot of trouble down the road. I have personally destroyed many cars due to lack of keeping my car up, but I have learned from my mistakes. So, to properly maintain your car, you must check the radiator coolant often, change the oil regularly, and attend to the tires frequently. By doing these simple maintenance tasks, the life of your car can be extended greatly. Obviously, a car needs to have coolant to run correctly and it must be checked almost every day before you take off and live your life. The motor of a car with little to no coolant or water will overheat and cause costly damages. These expensive repairs are best avoided. I remember one time when I didn’t check the water in my radiator. It was mid- October this year when I noticed my car starting to overheat on the way to work. I stopped off at the closest gas station to check it while I was getting some gas and I didn’t notice anything hissing or spewing out water. After I was finished, I drove the final two miles to work with no apparent problem. Nevertheless, I decided to call my dad since he
