Alexa Berg 303-634-328 1N - Brian Zentmyer 1/29/08 Assignment 1 A visiting marriage is when the “husband and wife are living apart from their separate families, seeing each other in their spare time.” The type of marriage I am most familiar with is a monogamous marriage, where the husband and wife live together and have one sexual partner during that time. In a visiting marriage their mother’s family raises the children and the father has no significant role in raising his children. In a monogamous marriage the husband and wife raise their children together in their family, there is no separation of the parents. In the film “A World Without Fathers and Husbands,” the example we see of a visiting marriage is of a matriarchal society where there are no fathers and husbands and the uncles take care of the children and act as the father figure.
