English 11 24 February 2006 Artifact Project: Supply and demand involving PSU football One theme represented in The Grapes of Wrath is idea of supply and demand in context of the depression in the 1930’s and 40’s. The concept of supply and demand dictates what happens to the economy and in general, regulates the commerce within any microcosm of the world. As ‘Okies’ started traveling long distances by car gasoline became a more sought after commodity. The supply remained constant and therefore the owners of gas stations were in a position to charge exorbitant amounts for their automotive grade petroleum. Also, as the okies’ jobs were consolidated into massive farms and corporate businesses the demand for farmers and laborers decreased. Thus, with supply (the number of okies) remaining constant, Businesses were able to pay people less then a reasonable amount per hour. My artifact is a PSU football ticket. More than 100 thousand people attend each
