Richard Haynie Understanding How HIV/AIDS, Agricultural Systems, and Food Security Are Linked Essay #2 Intro- This essay is concerned with the links between AIDS/HIV, agricultural systems, and food security. These issues and the links between them were brought up in our reading Understanding How HIV/AIDS, Agricultural Systems, and Food Security Are Linked ”, by Lori M. Hunter. In her paper she explains how AIDS can be an accomplice to malnourishment and the security of food. She mainly focuses on the regions and cultures in Africa where AIDS is most prevalent and agriculture is done mostly by hand, some animal, and very little use of machinery. The reason why this is so important is because in the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) defeating malnourishment is first on the list and eradicating HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases is sixth. Even though the MDG are headed in the right direction the goals will fall short unless other things are done to help. AIDS and malnourishment are interlinked and to combat malnourishment you should also take a look at the prevalence of AIDS. Analysis-
