CODE OF ETHICS FOR PROFESSIONAL TEACHERS IN THE PHILIPPINES
Every teacher shall uphold the highest possible standards of quality education, shall
make the best preparation for the career of teaching, and shall be at his best at all times in the
practice of his profession.
Pursuant to the provisions of paragraph (e), Article 11 of RA 7836, the Philippine
Teachers Professionalization Act of 1994 and paragraph (a) section 6, PD No. 223
(CREATING THE PROFESSIONAL REGULATION COMMISSION AND PRESCRIBING ITS
POWERS AND FUNCTIONS), as amended, the Board for Professional Teachers hereby
adopt the Code of Ethics for Professional Teachers.
Learning Outcomes
After this module, you are expected to:
1. discuss the Preamble and Article I of the Code of Ethics for Teachers in the Philippines.
2. explain how professional teachers should relate to the state, community, parents, and
all education stakeholders.
3. discuss the relationship of the teachers with the internal stakeholders.
4. explain how professional teachers should be in person, in the profession and in the
business.

Each of the lessons in this module contains activities that can be done individually, by
pair, and by group in asynchronous or synchronous mode of learning.

Flexible Teaching Learning Modality
This module adopts the synchronous and asynchronous learning modalities for you to
have better access and learning of the lessons. This may include eLMS, Google Classroom,
printed materials and other resources depending on your needs and capacity to use the
material.
Assessment Task
At the end of each lesson, you have to answer the given questions for your teacher to
check your understanding. This will help your teacher determine if you need additional
explanation and/or activity before proceeding to the next lesson.

Preamble
Teachers are duly licensed professionals who possess dignity and reputation with high
moral values as well as technical and professional competence in the practice of their noble
profession, and they strictly adhere to, observe, and practice this set of ethical and moral
principles, standards, and values.
