Alan VanToai BMGT198 3001 Timberland: Commerce and Justice One CSR project at Timberland include a partnership with “City Year”, a self described “action tank for national service.” Timberland received a request for 50 pairs of boots, and sent the requested items. From there, City Year expanded their relationship with Timberland, and together they arranged a service day for Timberland employees. The first service day was so rewarding, Timberland decided to bring the ethic or service into the daily life at the company. Timberland then launched an in-house Path of Service community service program. The POS service program gave employees 16 hours of paid leave per year for volunteer service. Timberland’s relationship with City Year has changed since their initial collaboration back in the late 80s. They went from donating 50 pairs of boots, to sponsoring a group of 12 City Year members for a semester in 1991. Then, in ’92, Timberland pledged $1 Million including uniforms for all volunteers annually for three
