Sid throws hammer against wall and yells at his wife when she asks what’s wrong after hitting his thumb with the hammer - Ex. Rats fight when electric shock turns on o Every species of animal will aggress against other animals or objects when exposed to painful stimuli Extinction-Established Aggression - Ex. Pigeon gets grain when it pecks a key, reinforcement stops and pigeon attacks the other, restrained bird Aggression reinforcers – an aversive condition that establishes the results of aggression as reinforcing - Ex. 2 keys in pigeon skinner box: 1 gives grain, other puts victim bird into restrained box o Pigeon pecked victim-access key only during extinction and attacked the poor bird - aggression is a powerful reinforcer - aversive conditions are motivating operations o aversive conditions increase the speed of learning aggressive behavior o increase the frequency of the performance of such behavior
