Depression and Sin
Sin and human problems such as suffering came from the original sin, this sin alienated
us from God and each other. Because of this adultery, murder, sickness, and human suffering is a
perversion of God’s good creation. Keller (2016) Speaks of his encounters where people have
asked “how can God let this happen” or “why would God let this happen”. Suffering is also a
form of evil and comes in different ways, it can come through a mental illness like depression it
is up to us how we deal with it. From suffering, we get depression, which affects millions of
people there are different types of depression. So, if we get depression from suffering and
suffering from the original sin. God gives us depression to learn to overcome it and to look for
Him to help us through this difficult time in our lives.
Humans are fundamentally good but since we are born in the flesh and the flesh is of sin
nature humans, therefore we are naturally sinners. You don’t need to be taught to do bad, only
good. Cabal, Brand, Copan, & Moreland (2007) Christ came to save God’s people from their
sins. After Adam and Eve sin, God banished them from the garden of Eden and the tree of life.
After that point we knew what good and evil are and what can happen, we have free will it is up
to us what we do with it. The role that human action has in being human is purposeful action. It’s
the action that humans use to get want humans to want and need to do in order to get it done.

The structures that comprise human anthropology is a function which is us taking care of God’s
creation to be stewards of God. The second is a structure which is the qualities that God has
given us, the difference of a male or female. The third is relation God wanted to have a close
relationship with us to walk beside Him, but because of the original sin a barrier was made
between us and Him, God is without sin, therefore, God cannot be around us. This is the price
that we have to pay for disobeying God. The structures that are crucial to human nature are the
way we think, our feelings and actions which we have naturally. The role that community and
relationship play in and relationships play in human nature are very important humans are social

Humans are able to be redeemed and ultimately forgiven for their sins, which would
eliminate their suffering and change their mental state. This can only be done through the process
of atonement and spiritual transformation. I think the process of psychotherapy and counseling
can be changed with the incorporation of the Christian worldview. Sin and atonement remind us
that we are not perfect, and we all need Jesus every day and that our actions should glorify God,
not ourselves or anyone else. Depravity is defined as having moral corruption and wickedness
which we see repeatedly throughout the Bible with people God called to do his work and those
who opposed God. I believe nobody can avoid troubles and it's impossible to cope with them
entirely on our own. We need help and the best help comes from God. Suffering can drive some
