Discussion 1 E-commerce (electronic commerce) is the buying and selling of goods and services, or the transmitting of funds or data, over an electronic network, primarily the internet (Lutkevich et al., 2022). With the proliferation on internet technology it has opened opportunities for new ways of service and product delivery. Zambia has historically been an economy dependent on mineral resource, in particular Copper. The government has therefore endeavoured to diversify from copper into other income generating fields such as other minerals with mining still considered one of the key growth areas. I would consider going into the gemstone business by setting up a gemstone exchange locally in Zambia to link local small-scale gemstone miners to buyers outside across the world. As the website highlights the need, the exchange would provide a grading service for the gemstones, create a means for tracking the source of the gemstones ensuring they are ethically mined and maintaining their provenance as well.
