MRS. FLOWERS AND MARGUERITE 2 Mrs. Flowers and Marguerite The essay “Sister Flowers,” by Maya Angelou describes the relationship between a young girl named Marguerite, and her idol, Mrs. Bertha Flowers. The purpose of this essay was to explain in detail the impact Mrs. Flowers had on young Marguerite. The writing pattern Angelou used was narrative. I feel that she used this pattern very well. Her usage of descriptive writing indefinitely brought to light what things looked like, smelled like, sounded like, and even how things tasted. Angelou made me feel as though I was sitting right beside Marguerite during the entire reading. The description given of Mrs. Flowers in the first two paragraphs is wonderful. “She was thin without the taut look of wiry people (Angelou, 2015),” was very creative. As I read on into
