1 Jesse Reed Zachary Braun English 111 08 September 2015 Frost “Frosty the Snowman , was a jolly happy soul , With a corncob pipe and a button nose, and two eyes made out of coal.” These are lyrics most of us associate these lyrics with warm a holiday spirit and a time of giving gifts and sharing laughs. In our home, my mother feels the sting of winter’s cold grasp on her when she hears this song. The moment she hears the jingle, tears begin to run a marathon down her face one after the other. I look at her and feel something grasp my heart and the cold wind of guilt begins to chill my entire inner being and I feel guilty for not being able to assist my mom in escaping the pit of her depression and sadness. This past weekend, my mom fell ill and had to go to the hospital. I was in shock and could feel sweat dripping down my brow as I drove to visit her , my nerves were shaking because I didn’t want to send her on an emotional roller coaster after her system was in shock from surgery. I proceeded toward the elevator by myself as I saw the world around me get shut out by the steel doors of the elevator , my mind started racing. I kept asking myself “Is now a good time?” My thoughts were interrupted by the elevators

2 iconic bell sound and an ear killing robotic voice that could easily give you a headache if you worked in the hospital. I walked down the wide halls which seemed as if they were going to close in on me like the elevator did. I see a room, 827A, and I calmly ask the nurse “Is this room open for visitors?” She replies “Yes, only for a certain amount of time.” I knock on the door and say “ It’s Jesse,” and I open the door slowly and can hear a creak as if you were leaning forward in a old metal chair. My mom looks up at me and says “It’s good to see you, my son” in a tired voice and she looked very pale. I slid a chair over to her and asked her a question that sent chills up my spine, and I could feel the air get cold. I asked her “ I want to know… about my grandfather.” I could feel the
