COSC1415/COSC1436 Introductory Lab Page 1 of 3 COSC1415/COSC1436 General Lab Instructions for Visual C++ in Del Rio Labs KEEP THIS LAB TO USE AS A REFERENCE 1. Getting to Visual C++ Start | All Programs | MS Visual Studio.NET 2003 | MS Visual Studio.NET 2003 Close the Start Page. Maximize the Microsoft Development Environment window. 2. To create a new project: a. Go to File | New | Project b. On the New Project window: Left side – Project Types – Choose Visual C++ Projects Right side – Templates – Choose Empty Project Give your project a meaningful name. Choose the location of your project. MAKE SURE THE LOCATION INCLUDES A FOLDER WITH YOUR NAME. Click OK c. In the Solution Explorer window on the left you will see your project name. This process has created a folder to hold the files for this project. 3. Now you want to create a program file that is part of your project. a. Go to File | Add New Item b. In the Add New Item window Left side – Categories – Choose Visual C++ Right side – Templates – Choose C++ File (.cpp) Give your file the same Name as your project. Make sure that the Location of your project is in the folder that was created when you created your project. Click
