The frequency of sudden cardiac death (SCD) is higher in US basketball players compared to any other athlete groups [1] . An analysis of the cardiac structure and function of more than 500 National Basketball Association (NBA) players provides information that can be used for the prevention of cardiac emergencies within basketball players and even the athletic community at large. The recognition of the risk for sudden cardiac death among basketball players is challenging because little is known regarding the changes in physiology of the heart in these athletes. The risk of SCD in the athlete’s heart is defined by the left ventricular (LV); a specific cavity of the heart.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
