Cultural Traditions Around the world there are many cultural traditions that are strange from one culture to the next. The majority of these traditions are a showing of manhood or celebrating birth or even death, but one of the most common times for traditions is during marriage. Cultural traditions during marriage are different all over the world. Traditions ranging from live bands with dancing and singing to offering the bride or grooms family all of ones life savings. Two of the strangest traditions that come to mind are the throwing of rice at weddings and males being circumcised. The throwing of rice at weddings is easily explained, but is one of the most well known traditions that predate ancient Rome and Egypt (1). Circumcision on the other hand predates recorded human history to the time of the Stone Age. Both of the traditions thrive through out the Americas and beyond. Throwing rice or birdseed at a newly married couple is intended to give newlyweds good luck
