2 ABSTRACT Pay per Click (PPC) advertising has evolved to become an effective marketing tool since its inception in the late 1990’s. The future will only increase its power to convert clicks to sales.

3 PAY PER CLICK Pay per click (PPC) advertising is a form of online marketing in which advertisers pay a fee every time a user clicks on the sponsored listing. Advertisers bid on keywords and audience types. A search engine (such as Google AdWords or Microsoft Bing Ads ) displays the listings above the non paid organic search results. It is a way of buying visits to the company’s website. It is used to increase sales, generate leads and promote brand awareness. Agency Solutions · Free AdWords Grader · Managed Services A BRIEF HISTORY OF PPC Mid to late 1990’s: as the use of the internet increased, search engines started being used to navigate the web. 1996: Packard Bell produced a “Virtual 3D Internet City”, Planet Oasis , the first example of PPC. Planet Oasis depicted websites as 3D representations of a map with city blocks as topics
