Aristotelian Analysis of MacbethIntroduction to the Humanities, Section 29October 29, 2021Jermain LopezThe intense and longing desire to achieve something difficult to achieve, especially wealth, power, or fame. they can lead a person to commit the vilest and dishonorable acts that he hasever imagined. this is known as ambition"Because their hearts are set so much upon the thingsof this world, and aspire to the honors of men."(Doctrine and Covenants 121: 35)Ambition isthe main axis in the plot of the Shakespeare-Macbeth artwork. This ambition is unleashed bythree witches who were already planning it at the beginning of the play. The witches evenrespond Act I Scene IWhen the hurly-burly’s done, When the battle’s lost and won.”meetingwith Macbeth these witches sow the seed of ambition. Later when Macbeth and Banquo returnfrom battle. Macbeth would receive the title of Thane of Cawdor is where the climax begins.Macbeth thought“Glamis and Thane of Cawdor! The greatest is behind.”Because Macbethfeels that the witches' prophecy could be a reality. And together with Lady Macbeth they plan toend King Duncan's life. This is where the complication begins and Macbeth's entire life turnsinto a complete mess of guilty emotions. When Macbeth receives the terrible news of LadyMacbeth's death, great pain and anguish begin within him to such an extent that his emotions areaffected. This is where the denouement begins. Then Macbeth is beheaded at the hands ofMacduff giving way to the prophecy.
All people have ambitions in this life, but it is up to us how to fulfill them. Macbeth is theprotagonist of this story who was given a prophecy but he made bad decisions when fulfilling hisdreams. I think there were three antagonists in Macbeth's life. For me, at the beginning of theplay, Lady Macbeth behaves like an antagonist, it was she who constantly fueled Macbeth'sambition and incited him to murder, it was also she who concealed his shameful actions. thisreason led him to develop his paranoia. On the other hand, Banquo also becomes an antagonistbecause a prophecy indicated him in such a way that his descendants would be kings. this putshim in Macbeth's sights to kill him. And finally, I consider that witches are also part of theantagonism. Because I consider that these prophecies that the witches gave Macbeth were toincite him to do very bad things.
