Amongst the four types of teams in an organization, the one that best describe my current team is a self-managed team. For our Apparel Item Set Up team, there's a Senior Manager, Manager and an Assistant Manager (myself) that leads a team of 12 associates on the Apparel Item Set Up process. Despite the fact that this is a self-managed team, managers play a crucial role in guiding the process. As Deening (2014) states, in networked organizations were work is self-managed, there are still managers. The managers have become enablers of self-managing teams and networks rather than controllers of individuals. In a corporate setting, it is essential to have that authority figure that guide teams toward the right direction that align with the mission and vision of company. At my company things are very flexible and the management team give employees the authority to get the job done with minimal supervision. We share the goals with the team in meetings and on a weekly basis present reports that show how far along we are in meeting our gals. We establish goals at
